At its core, manga storytelling celebrates resilience, identity, community, hope, and personal agency — values that resonate deeply with people navigating complex life challenges, like those in our IgAN community. At Vera Therapeutics, we strive to elevate the voices of people affected by IgA nephropathy. We listen closely to patients and care partners because we believe that understanding the lived experience and building genuine connections within the community are key to improving outcomes. Vera Therapeutics is a biotechnology company focused on developing treatments for serious immunological diseases including IgA Nephropathy. B Cell Activation - B cell activity is controlled by many proteins. Two of these proteins are called BAFF and APRIL. Kidney Damage - The ongoing damage caused by immune complexes leads to abnormal amounts of protein and blood appearing in the urine and eventually decreases the filtering of waste products from the body, causing kidney failure.     Marykate’s work with IgA Nephropathy is driven by her brother’s diagnosis, which fuels her commitment to patient advocacy and international growth through the IgAN Foundation’s Go Global initiatives. She works to connect patients, clinicians, and partners to accelerate progress and ensure the patient voice is represented worldwide.

    Marykate is also a commercial and film director and editor with over ten years of experience in the entertainment business in NY and LA.

    When she’s not working, she’s spending time outdoors with her family at the beach, hiking, or riding bikes.

    Paul is an artist and and illustrator. He is also the creator of the comic book “Chronic: Adventures in Disease”, a graphic memoir detailing his 30 year journey as a patient with Iga Nephropathy available on his website, www.PaulWilliams.studio.

  • Caitlin McCormick

    Caitlin is an IgA Nephropathy (IgAN) patient and proud IgAN Foundation Ambassador. Drawing from her personal journey, she is dedicated to spreading awareness and supporting those navigating IgAN so no one has to face it alone. Outside of her ambassadorship, she works professionally as an IT Project Manager and assists small businesses with their marketing in Arizona.

Christopher Fowler Allie DuBrule is the founder and lead artist of Sprinter Works Studio. Raised in Tampa Bay, she began her career in 2015 with the independently published manga series Magical Princess Sky, released under the name Allie Malott. After building her voice through comic and writing events across the Southeast U.S., she launched Sprinter Works Studio in 2025 to support other creatives and tell distinctive client stories through graphic novels, branding, digital media, and merchandise. Outside of work, she enjoys baking, sketching outdoors, and drawing inspiration from magical girl anime, sci-fi, and art history. Allie DuBrule is the founder and lead artist of Sprinter Works Studio.
